such as a formal evening or cocktail outfit. For men a dinner jacket or
tuxedo are the norm, otherwise a suit and tie is fine. |

Launched
in April 2005, Arcadia is the latest
ship in the P&O fleet and is the most contemporary to date. An
'adults-only' cruise ship, it is clear to see that this is P&O's
attempt to bring fresh, first-time cruisers onboard.
Originally destined for Cunard Lines
as Queen Victoria, parent company Carnival quickly assigned her to
P&O to meet demand for the booming Ex-UK cruise market.
Arcadia's
designer's had a brief to create the next generation of P&O
superliner that would appeal to the British modern day traveller.
The result is a sophisticated cruise ship decorated in contemporary
muted colours which will no doubt appeal to the
'lifestyle conscious' cruiser.
To add to the contemporary
ambience, you will find £2 million worth of art onboard which
includes the work of painters, sculptors and artists in a wide
variety of materials that includes metal, glass, stone, ceramics and
textiles.

The Atrium
spans 3 decks and is very simple in design for a ship of this
size. Decorated in subtle contemporary creams and whites with
a dramatic shimmering two-tone curtain that cascades down.
|
|
Spanning two
decks is the
Meridian Restaurant, which is the
main dining venue onboard for guests who choose the
Club
Dining option. Operating on two sittings at 6.30pm and
8.30pm the atmosphere is formal, yet socialable. Fine bone china, crisp white linens
and crystal glassware complement the cuisine which is based on
British classics.
Decorated in
soft cream colours enhanced by touches of gold and bronze with
pretty glass etched dividers.
