P&O Cruises | Oceana | 2012 | Southampton No Fly Cruises >>>
Oceana, was one of the original 'White Sisters',- the other being
Adonia which has now switched back to Princess Cruises as the Sea
Princess.
Displaying all the hallmarks of a Princess Ship rather
than a true P&O classic liner, Oceana is a family friendly, very
warm and welcoming ship!
Offering a true 'WOW' factor and a focal
point of the ship for many goings on, The Atrium is very elegant, 4
decks high and comes complete with glass elevators, marble
staircases, a Tiffany styled stained glass ceiling, palm trees and
even a small water feature which Charlie Dimmock would be proud of.
One deck up on Deck 6 you are invited to some retail therapy. The
upmarket Bond Street has a fine display of jewellery while Regent
Street offers the chance to pick up those holiday essentials.
Tiffany's is a popular
bar-lounge area and wraps around the Atrium on Deck 7 (Promenade
Deck). There is plenty of cosy seating areas ideal for use in the
daytime to people watch or for pre-dinner or late night drinks. A
piano and small dance floor provides a welcome alternative to the
main disco.
Café Jardin on Deck 8
situated at the very top of the atrium is now the home for celebrity
chef, Marco Pierre White's restaurant (cover charge applies).
'Footlights', the 530 seat
theatre is located forward on Promenade Deck is the home of The
Stadium Theatre Company who raise the curtain for fabulous
highlights of 'West End' shows such as Phantom of the Opera, The
Lion King, Mamman Mia and more!
Based on a traditional
English Maritime Yacht Club the 'Yacht & Compass' is a great venue
for drinks before and after shows in the nearby Footlights Theatre.
The comfy leather armchairs, rich woods and brass provide a warm and
relaxed atmosphere to listen and dance to the live band who
frequently play here.
Oceana now offers a 'Freedom
Dining' option- here you are able to dine in the Ligurian restaurant
at what time you wish between 6.00pm and 10.00pm and with whom you
wish either by simply turning up or by booking ahead.
For guests who prefer the more traditional dining arrangement, the
Adriatic Restaurant offers traditional 'Club Dining' with 1st and
2nd sittings where you keep the same table time and waiters every
night.
Both restaurants offer a luxurious backdrop of rich woods, soft
lighting and murals depicting classic Italian landscapes
complemented by crisp white linens.
For casual dining with fabulous forward sea views The Plaza offers
buffet breakfast and lunch. In an evening it transforms one side to
offer a 'Select Bistro Restaurant' for a small cover charge. Staff
are very vigilant to ensure passengers use hand sanitizers in this
area every time you visit the buffet section. The disappearance of
trays can however mean unnecessary journeys to gather all you need
to enjoy a meal!
Rising up in three tiers over the pool area on Lido Deck is The
Riviera Bar, Horizon Grill and Pennant Bar. The lowest, The Riviera
Bar offers refreshing cocktails whilst sunbathing and is sometimes
also used for the Captains pre-dinner cocktail party.
The Horizon Grill serves as two functions - by day you can enjoy
freshly cooked burgers and grilled chicken wraps whilst in the
evening it is transformed into another of the alternative or 'select
restaurants' where you can enjoy succulent steaks, grilled prawns
and more under the stars al fresco style for a small supplement of
approx £7 per person.
The Pennant Bar is the highest point on Oceana and offers
breathtaking views over the horizon as well as the pool area two
decks below.
Located midship on Lido Deck is the Riviera Pool and slightly
smaller Crystal Pool - both sheltered from the wind on all sides
helps make this a perfect suntrap. The three Jacuzzi's provide warm
bubbles which are ideal to relax in with a cocktail. Two more
Jacuzzi's and a circular pool await you near the Terrace Bar which
is Aft on Sun Deck.
Perfect for sea days is the well stocked audio and book Library with
its comfortable reading and listening chairs. Cyb@study allows you
to catch up on emails or to browse the internet. Also available is
special workshops giving instruction on the use of computers or
software packages such as photoshop. There is also the facility to
download images to CD if you need. Overflow internet terminals are
also available at the Explorers Bar in the Reception area on Formosa
Deck (F Deck) with various value time plans available for users.
'Starlights' is the second show lounge onboard and is located Aft on
Promenade Deck. Providing the audience with a more intimate
experience it is often used for comedians and other entertainers.
During the day the venue is used to provide Port Enhancement
Presentations.
'Magnums' is the champagne and caviar bar located midships on
Promenade Deck with comfortable seating and large sea view windows,
it is the ideal venue to meet for pre-dinner or late night drinks.
By day the area is great if you want to relax in a light and airy
place with a good book or to take in the great views.
'Winners Bar' midships on Deck 8 is a sports bar complete with flat
screen TV's, with large comfortable and funky chairs to catch the
latest game. Adjoining Winners' and either side of a circular marble
staircase is the ship gaming area - 'Monte Carlos' where you will
find card and roulette tables plus a bank of one arm bandits!
