Southampton
is the
'Cruise Capital'
of the UK and home to some
of the finest cruise lines. As more and more cruise lines bring bigger and
bigger ships to Southampton the port is now on course to become the
biggest cruise ship hub in Europe,
The
City
Cruise Terminal
in the Western Docks, has completed a recent £9m, seven year deal with Royal
Caribbean International to more than double its capacity. This investment
will allow the cruise line to use Southampton to host its latest
generation of ‘Freedom Class’ cruise ships which are currently the largest
in the world and in 2008 it will deploy their brand new ship at
Southampton -
‘Independence of the Seas’ for her inaugural season.
